The Dutch Database Patent Licenses is a portal where patent owners can offer to license their patents to third parties. The database simultaneously functions as a digital marketplace for companies who want access to new Dutch technology. This ‘technology marketplace’ aims to promote active trading in patents.
You are a patent owner but you do not want to or are unable to use your patent yourself. Or you want to use your patent but you need the help of other parties to do so, for example because these parties can provide you with access to new local or foreign markets.
The solution is to grant a license on the patent. By granting a license you are authorising the licensee to market your invention.
The result is a win-win situation for all parties. The licensor increases the profitability of his patent, while the licensee can market the invention and so increase their turnover and profits in that particular market. This allows both parties to make money from the invention.
The Dutch Database Patent Licenses is an initiative of the Netherlands Patent Office, a department of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. Our organisation is implementing the Dutch Database Patent Licenses on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
